Personal branding is a strong way to distinguish yourself as a leader. Marketing strategist Dorie Clark highlights some methods used to develop your brand successfully.
1. Being clear about your message. Your personal brand needs to be reflected in who you are and what you live out every day. Ask friends and colleagues which adjectives best describe you and determine what characteristics make you unique.
2. Compare your personal brand with your company’s brand. Discover where they coincide and emphasize them. For example if you have an innovative character and you work for an innovative company, emphasize it.
3. Demonstrate your brand. To do this, take on projects that involve building on the external perception of the brand, creating content and befriending colleagues from different departments to keep yourself open to new opportunities.
